TWO local authorities are making a joint bid to reduce road accidents at a notorious junction.
Midlothian and Scottish Borders councils have pledged to tackle the problems associated with traffic approaching the Leadburn crossroads.
The junction straddles the councils’ boundaries, and is where the A701, A703 and A6094 converge.
Scottish Borders Council’s Executive Committee agreed recently to reduce the speed limit from 60mph to 40mph on the A701 approaching the junction.
Midlothian Council is proposing a 40mph speed limit near the junction on the A703 and A6094 routes – which lie within the Midlothian area – and has agreed to the 40mph being extended to the A701.
