Saltersgate in Dalkeith has become the first Additional Support Needs (ASN) school in Scotland to win a Cycling Scotland, Cycle Friendly School award.
The pupils and teachers won the national accolade for the amount of work which has gone in to encouraging the children to ride bikes.
At a special assembly held recently to celebrate the school’s success, a team of pupils were congratulated for doing everything from repairing punctures to cleaning up the bikes.
Cabinet member for commercial operations with Midlothian Council, Councillor Jim Bryant (SNP), said he was duly impressed.
