Rick Stein: From Venice to Istanbul (BBC2, 9.30pm)

The “Venice” part of this series may not have excited viewers – we’ve lost count of the culinary travelogues exploring Italy’s food and culture. However, the rest of Rick Stein’s journey is turning up some real TV delicacies.

This week, the chef is in Croatia, where he savours the native oysters of Ston, before crossing the border into Albania, where he is joined by his son Jack and the pair sample local dishes such as chicken jufka and kokoretsi. In his own kitchen on the Greek island of Symi, Rick cooks traditional Albanian dishes, including Lepur Comlek and Tave Kosi.

Dead Air (BBC3, 11pm)

Radio 1 DJ Greg James makes his acting debut in this one-off comedy, and it seems he’s decided not to push himself too far too fast as he’s playing a disc jockey. But before anyone criticises his lack of range, it’s worth pointing out that he also co-wrote the script.

He stars as Jake Cross, who has won a cult following for his late-night broadcasts on a commercial station. So, when he is unexpectedly offered a shot at the coveted breakfast show, should he take it, even if it means selling out?
