Saltersgate Primary School in Dalkeith is in celebratory mood after achieving its second Green Flag award.
The school, which supports children and young people with additional support needs, was awarded Green Flag status by Eco-Schools Scotland last year, but decided to wait until last week to officially celebrate.
Green Flags are awarded to schools which show a commitment to environmental excellence. The Midlothian school achieved its second flag by undertaking activities such as: recycling waste, collecting litter, saving energy and developing biodiversity.
Head teacher Jean Loughlin said: “I am extremely proud of the efforts of the staff and pupils, who worked extremely well. Only a few schools in Midlothian have been awarded a second Green Flag, so this is a great achievement.”
