Midlothian South MSP Christine Grahame (SNP) is hoping to stand for election in an English constituency in next year’s Westminster vote.
Ms Grahame wants to represent the Nationalists at the Berwick-upon-Tweed seat at the General Election in May.
She told the Advertiser: “I await consideration by the SNP of my proposal which is a serious suggestion to reflect the similarities between the requirements of Berwick and us, its near neighbours.
“There was so much scaremongering and nonsense during the Referendum campaign about Border posts and passports that I think it is time the truth was told. In addition, I believe we need to ensure that good cross border relations continue.”
