Pensioners are threatening to boycott the Borders Railway service after it was confirmed that Midlothian Council will not be offering concessions.
Unlike East and West Lothian, where the over-60s and disabled receive discounts such as half-price travel on local lines, senior citizens and those who are registered disabled in Midlothian will be asked to pay full-price fares when the new service is launched in September.
Support groups have been quick to condemn the decision.
