Penicuik’s paper-making heritage centre is seeking your support on Facebook in a bid to secure further funding for the project.

The Pen-Y-Coe Press development is one of 63 UK initiatives vying for funding from Jewson’s Building Better Communities scheme.

Penicuik Community Development Trust is seeking funding to develop the next stage of the heritage centre in Bridge Street.

Trust secretary Roger Hipkin explained: “The position is that Jewson have put up £100,000 and that will be split with one prize of £50,000 and the remainder split between £1,000 and £5,000.

“They are opening an account and Jewson will supply matierals up to that prize.

“It is exactly what we want. We need to put in a fire retardant ceiling between the main museum area and the flats above.”
