Stolen vehicle appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a vehicle was stolen from an address in Loanhead and then abandoned in Dalkeith.

The blue Citroen Picasso was stolen from an address in Dryden Avenue around 7.30am on Tuesday, January 31, after the two suspects entered the owner’s home and stole the keys, along with a laptop computer.

The vehicle was then driven to Dalkeith, where it collided with a number of vehicles in the Post Office car park, off Old Edinburgh Road, next to Dalkeith Indoor Bowling Centre. The car was then driven into the car park at the rear of North Wynd, where it narrowly missed a passer-by.

At this point, the two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and made off on North Wynd.

Both are described as white, 5ft 8in to 5ft 10ins tall, with a slim build, and wearing dark clothing. One of them was wearing a beanie hat.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “It is only by good fortune that no-one was injured, and we want anyone who was in the area of Dalkeith town centre around 10.30am, who saw the car being driven erratically, to contact police.

“Likewise anyone who saw the suspects in the area at the time, or who recognises their descriptions, should also get in touch.”
