Ambitious plans to create a papermaking heritage centre in Penicuik are progressing.
Last autumn, Penicuik Community Development Trust moved into Bank Mill, the last papermill building in the Valleyfield area.
The trust is paying rent while capital is sought to buy the properties. So far, local people have donated more than £30,000.
The progress will be outlined at the trust’s annual general meeting in Penicuik Town Hall on Tuesday, May 31, at 7.30pm.
One of the first steps towards converting the derelict factory into a national heritage centre was an open day last month. More than 130 people visitors attended the event, which included a papermaking workshop run by Mandy Mills.
