A MAJOR construction project in Penicuik has earned a civil engineering accolade.

The project team for the Glencorse Water Treatment Works has lifted the prestigious CEEQUAL award, promoted by Civil Engineering Environmental Quality.

The scheme achieved top marks with a score of 84 per cent, well above the 75 per cent threshold for the top banding of “excellent”.

The new water works – which serves Edinburgh and parts of Midlothian – was opened last month by Alex Neil MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment.
