This year’s Midlothian Schools’ Festival of Music at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh was judged as among the best yet, catering to every taste in music, from movie and theatre numbers to a medley of WW1 songs.

Councillor Bob Constable (SNP), cabinet member for education, said: “What a fantastic night. Talk about a varied programme catering for everyone in the audience whether they loved rock bands or choirs. Well done to everyone involved. There’s a huge amount of talent in Midlothian and this event, which must certainly rank as either the best yet or close to it, is a great showcase for all our young musicians.”
