Four hundred soldiers from the Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, marched through Penicuik on Friday to mark their return from operational duties in Afghanistan.

Provost Joe Wallace and Lord Lieutenant Sir Robert Clerk took the salute outside the town hall.

2 SCOTS’ Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Graeme Wearmouth OBE said: “Our final parade took place in Penicuk today and I’d like to thank everyone involved in organising the events and the local community of Penicuik for its unstinting support.”

The soldiers, based at Glencorse Barracks, had also taken part in homecoming parades in Ayr and Glasgow last week.
