Fewer killed on Midlothian roads

The number of people being killed or injured on Midlothian’s roads is continuing to fall.

New statistics for 2009 show there were three people killed in the county, 35 seriously injured and 241 slightly injured.

These figures include four children seriously injured and 37 children slightly injured.

Midlothian councillors were advised recently that while the number of killed and seriously injured (KSI) casualties in 2009 was slightly above target, there was an improvement in the child KSI casualties.

However, there was a slight increase in the number of pedestrians, adult cyclists and motorcyclists injured from 2008.
