Tributes have been paid to Bonnyrigg Rose FC kit man Craig Devine, the ‘gentle giant’ who died of a heart attack at a match in Linlithgow last week.

United in their grief, relatives have set-up a ‘Craig Devine the Gentle Man’ facebook page to remember him.

They posted: “As our family tries to make sense of Craig not being around we are grateful for all the kind and very true words said about our Gentle Man Craig.

“Thank you to those who were at the game and tried to help and got him to hospital.

“Thank god he was not alone. To know him was to love him – his heart was simply too big. We wish we could have had him for longer.”

Players, supporters and management staff were aghast when the popular 46-year-old collapsed at half time during the away fixture at Linlithgow Rose.

The long-standing committee member slumped to the ground as he was returning to the pitch with refreshments for players.
