The Trip To Italy
(Friday, May 9, BBC 2, 10pm)
What’s It All About? Two comedians, one car, lots of impressions, great food and some glorious landscapes; The Trip was a mouthwatering fusion of comedy, cookery and travelogue that was a jewel in BBC Two’s crown in 2010.
After four years fans were rewarded with more of the same a few weeks ago, only this time with some stunning Italian landscapes.
Sadly all good things must come to an end, and in the final part, Steve’s son Joe and his assistant Emma join him and Rob on the final leg of their culinary tour.
Aside from sailing from Naples to Capri, they have lunch at Il Riccio.
Look Out For: Brydon’s hilarious impressions, from Sean Connery and Marlon Brando to a glut of The Dark Knight Rises gags.
Plus, in the future, hopefully the whiff of Baftas, British Comedy Awards and international plaudits as director Michael Winterbottom’s latest project works its magic around the world.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait another four years for a possible third series.
For newcomers wondering how different this is compared to the original series set in the north of England, Coogan says: “It is the same as the first one. It’s just in Italy”.
