THE second half of a planned windfarm on a Midlothian beauty spot has been rejected.

Scottish Borders Council rejected Ridgewind’s plans for a 16-turbine wind farm at Fala Moor, straddling the border between the region and Midlothian.

Midlothian Council had already turned down proposals to construct nine turbines within its area a month ago.

The planned windfarm would have been just 1.5 kilometres from the site of medieval hospital Soutra Aisle.

Brian Moffat, who runs the historic visitor attraction is glad that the Borders application has also been refused.

He said: “I’m delighted that the planning process on both sides of the boundary have come good.”
