This Saturday’s Dalkeith Show will take place in Steele Park and Lawn Field, both located within the grounds of Dalkeith Country Park.
Breaking from tradition, the show venue is now in Lawn Field, in front of Dalkeith Palace, while the Horse Section will be judged in the adjacent Steele Park.
John Biggar, secretary of Dalkeith Agricultural Society, is hoping that the use of two fields will create more space, improving the quality of the annual showcase event.
The show, according to John, has once again had an excellent entry: “Light horse entries are very good, particularly in sections qualifying for major championships.
“In the sheep section the entry is very good with over 400 entries covering a wide range of sheep breeds. Cattle and Clydesdale Horse entries are also well in line with last year. The dairy section is very entertaining aimed at the participation of young handlers.”
