The owner of the Gorebridge roofing company which recently walked away with two national awards has heaped praise on his staff.
B&D Roofing picked up the slating award and heritage roofing award from the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), at a ceremony held in Glasgow.
Owner Brian McKay was delighted with the continued success of his business.
He said: “It was great to win again. Over the last five years we have won something every year. It shows we are doing a proper job and gives our clients confidence in us. We are not just accredited from the governing body, we are winning awards from them as well. The staff enjoy this, it gives us all recognition for doing the right thing. It gives us all a lift. It shows the staff that they are all good at their job.
“They have won five years in a row. So that boost every year basically lets the guys know they are good at what they do and that builds confidence.
“I appreciate what they do. That’s why we always enter these awards. To get the recognition they deserve. And it’s all local people we employ.”
Brian(pictured left with news presenter Catriona Shearer and NFRC president Andrew Turnbull) explained more about the specific project for which his company won the heritage award.
He said: “It’s a milestone really. We have won the slating award for two years in a row and also picked up the UK award for slating in 2014.
“To win the Scottish slating and heritage awards this year is great for us.
“We do a lot of heritage buildings. The one we won it for was down in Dumfriesshire in an old Edwardian property. It was a school, but it’s now residential. We worked on it for nearly six months.”
B&D Roofing, based at Vogrie Road, employs 24 staff and celebrated it’s 21st birthday this year. The company moved from Easthouses to its current home two years ago.
