“Vicious assault” on Dalkeith High Street

Police are appealing for information following an assault in Dalkeith in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 16).

In an unprovoked attack, a 47-year-old man was assaulted near to the Buccleuch Public House in Dalkeith High Street at around 1am, suffering facial injuries.

While the area was busy at the time, police are particularly keen to trace a man in his early to mid-20s, around six feet tall, slim build, with fair short hair, shaved on either side and forming a small Mohican style cut.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This was a vicious assault on a middle-aged man and we are determined to identify the person or persons responsible.

“The High Street area was busy at the time of the assault and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault to contact the police.

“Anyone with any information they think might be relevant is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
