Victory for SNP’s Christine

The SNP’s Christine Grahame swept to victory in the Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale seat - completing a historic double for her party in Midlothian.

Ms Grahame, previously a South of Scotland list MSP, took the seat with 13,855 votes, a majority of 4,924 over the Lib Dem candidate, the former Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale MSP Jeremy Purvis. Labour’s Ian Miller was third with 5,312 votes, with Tory candidate Peter Duncan in fourth place with 3,743.

The results were:

Christine Graham (SNP) 13,855

Jeremy Purvis (Lib Dem) 8,931

Ian Miller (Lab) 5,312

Peter Duncan (Con) 3,743

Majority 4,924

Total votes cast 31,967

% Turnout 55.3%
