A MIDLOTHIAN community is being placed on a war footing this week.
Local children and adult writers in Gorebridge are joining forces to tell tales of the Second World War.
“Well, there is a war on!” is the final product of an inter-generational project between Midlothian Council’s Creative Arts Team, Gorebridge Creative Writers’ Group, Community Learning and Development and Gorebridge Primary School.
The P7s were working on the Second World War as a project, and this was also a topic being examined by the local writers.
The children and adults met in the school, and it was agreed that the writers would work on ideas around the war.
The stories they produced have been transformed into performance pieces by drama teacher Cheryl Aird, and the children have been rehearsing these short sketches in preparation for an end-of-term performance.
“Well, there is a war on!” will be performed in the primary school tonight (Thursday) at 7pm.
