Where to put new school?

THE announcement that Newbattle Community High School is to get a new building has sparked debate over where it should be located.

A fortnight ago, the Advertiser exclusively revealed that the aging school was to be rebuilt following a successful bid for Scottish Government funding. A consultation process will now begin, with the location of the new-build expected to be top of the agenda.

Midlothian MP David Hamilton (Lab) is delighted that a new school will be built, but argues that it should be moved from it current location.Mayfield and Easthouses Community Council chairman Robert Hogg wants to see the new school rebuilt at its current location, but with better transport links.
