Witness appeal after Prestonpans robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Prestonpans and a serious assault in Dunbar.

The incident at the Best One shop, a grocery and convenience store in High Street, Prestonpans, happened around 8.55pm last Thursday.

Two men entered the premises armed with knives and threatened staff. An employee who was working behind the counter was punched in the head and the suspects made off with a four figure sum of cash towards the beach opposite the shop.

The first suspect, whose face was covered with a pair of tights, is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, and wearing a blue tracksuit top with white stripes down the sleeves. He carried a black holdall and spoke with a Scottish accent.

The second man, who wore a balaclava, is described as white, 6ft tall, and well built. He was wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans.
