Witnesses sought to Dalkeith house fire

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of willful fireraising in Dalkeith on Sunday morning.

Firefighters from Dalkeith and Newcraighall were called to a ground floor flat in Allan Terace at around 2.50am. Five occupants quickly left the building after the fire was discovered in a bedroom.

Crews used one high pressure hose reel and two breathing apparatus to bring the blaze under control by 3.50am.

Officers are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Mark Henderson said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the Allan Terrace area last night.

“Anyone with information is asked to come forward immediately.”
