A WOMAN was found injured at the bottom of an embankment near Dalkeith on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters used specialist line rescue equipment to rescue the 42-year-old from a wooded area next to Newbattle Road.
A height appliance, three fire engines and a rescue truck attended the incident after receiving an emergency call just before 3.30pm.
After reaching the casualty, fire crews secured her on to a stretcher and used a pulley system to bring her up the embankment.
Ambulance personnel were in attendance during the rescue.
The injured woman was lifted to ground level by 4.41pm, when she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
She is believed to have suffered a broken ankle.
