MIDLOTHIAN pupils who built a treehouse for their school will have to travel 20 miles to the Borders to use it – because of health and safety rules.

Pupils at Tynewater Primary School spent six months building a den, but Midlothian Council’s health and safety demands have forced exasperated organisers to move it out of the county.

Rather than place the structure in the Pathhead school’s playground, they have shifted it to Wooplaw Community Woodland between Lauder and Galashiels.
