Councillor’s thanks

I would be grateful if you would allow me space on these pages to sincerely thank my fellow residents in Midlothian East for placing their trust in me when I was elected our area’s local Labour Councillor last week.

To be given the opportunity to serve my home – the area that I was brought up and live in – is a special privilege, and I look forward to helping all residents, regardless of how they voted, in my role as a councillor.

I’d encourage any resident to get in touch if there is something you feel I can help with, or if you would like to ask me my view on any issue. I can be reached at Kenny.Young@Midlothian.Gov.UK and my postal/telephone details are now on the council’s website.

The SNP won this area easily in 2012, but now they are going backwards in Midlothian. Residents have sent them a clear message by putting their trust in Labour. Now it’s my job to work hard and constructively to make the SNP-led council listen. I’ll keep fighting the £104 Alarm Tax on older people who need Care Alarms and I’ll keep telling the SNP: cut the vanity projects, not the front line.

I look forward to doing all I can to serve my area in the months and years ahead. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Cllr Kenny Young (Lab)

Midlothian East Ward
