Council

Borders example

I have been reading a lot recently about the committees getting together to try to bring people and shops back to our local high streets. A great idea and these people could do no better than visit Jedburgh in the Borders to see how a small town can support many
different and very successful businesses.

A trip to Jedburgh is a pleasure. They have such a variety of shops. Apart from Boots and a Co-op, they are mostly locally owned. The main street is always busy. There are a couple of charity shops but these are on side streets not right in the centre. There is such a variety from award-winning butchers and cafes to antiques and crafts. They have a wonderful ironmongery which sells everything under the sun. For those of you old enough to remember
