Praise for Beeslack
I had the privilege, as a local employer, of handing out certificates to pupils at Beeslack High School last week to award them on completion of their MYFuture 2015 Programme - a month-long dedicated schools programme created by the school to help ensure young people leave school for positive destinations.
Having seen these talented young people at the start of the programme, it was great to see their progress over the four week period. This was a rigorous programme that included outdoor team-building exercises, sessions with employers, teaching life skills and mock interviews. All of which I am certain will help this and future generations to be more job-ready and ready for their future adventures. I am sure Beeslack High School will continue their partnership with employers and the local community going forward, bringing real benefits to all who are engaged in this exchange.
It was particularly heartening to hear how many young people were already involved in voluntary work and a number of those who were leaving already had jobs and apprenticeships lined up. I wish them all the very best for the future.
