Facing a black hole of billions
Sir, – A fog of uncertainty about Brexit hangs over us like a dark cloud and the only thing that’s clear is that no one has a clue what will happen to the economy, least of all the Government.
Before the EU referendum we were told repeatedly that there was no question of lower living standards but the truth is the costs of leaving are a “black hole” of £125 billion and rising.
The air of studied vagueness about everything in the Autumn Statement can’t mask the fear that the UK is going to be trashed as a result of this extraordinary act of economic self-harm. – Yours, etc.,
Dr John Cameron
