Community – Thank you for your support

Sir, – After reading about their amazing win in the Advertiser I am writing to also congratulate the lucky Loanhead players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Those players, who live in “EH20 9”, shared an amazing £3 million recently, and as a charity that benefits greatly from their support I wish to extend my thanks.

Last year alone the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery raised £700,000 to support Children 1st, Scotland’s National Children’s Charity, and our commitment to helping families and communities put children first. This support has made a tremendous difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families in the Lothians and across Scotland, and we want to thank them for their support.

In our Midlothian services we believe that all parents and families want to provide the best possible start in life for their children. But we also recognise that extra support can sometimes be needed, when families are affected by substance misuse, mental or physical health issues and domestic abuse.

We want to ensure that children and families are emotionally resilient and that children enjoy life. Our family support team works alongside parents, children and carers to help strengthen relationships, build confidence and help shape positive futures by preventing an escalation into crisis. We also work to support Young Carers as individuals or as groups, those who for various reasons at a young age find themselves caring for a dependent relative at home.

This is work we are able to provide in part because of the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery players such as those in Loanhead. – Yours, etc.,

Fiona Herriot
