Danderhall judo success

Danderhall Judo Club recently took nine players to the Highland Judo competition. And all nine — seniors and juniors, ranging from 10 to 26 years — took a medal.
They achieved three gold, three silver and three bronzes.

The players are Rachel Portlock, bronze; Aimee Summerville, bronze,; Calum Aitchison, bronze; Jack Laidlaw, silver; Liam Mathews, silver; Hazel Taylor, silver; Robyn Taylor, gold; Rebecca McLean, gold; and Colin Woods, gold.

The club is in its 25th year and originally met at the community centre but now runs at Danderhall Miners' Club on Edmonstone Road.

Seniors

It is still coached by its original coach Davie Reilly, who has just won Midlothian Coach of the Year 2008.

Training is on a Tuesday night for juniors and seniors and on Thursday night for juniors.
