RUNNING: Penicuik Harriers welcome fresh blood to committee

Penicuik Harriers welcomed some new faces to the committee at its annual general meeting held recently.
The president and vice-president were re-elected for a second year in office and a new treasurer was appointed.

The full list of office-bearers is as follows — president, Mrs Frances Jones; honorary life vice-presidents, William Bennet, Colin Grah
am, Duncan Mclaren and John Mumford; vice-president, Mrs Allison Hilton; secretary, Miss Susan Harper, 45 Malbet Park, Edinburgh, 0131 666 2480; treasurer, Martin Brown; committee, Robert Walker (membership secretary), Mrs Susie Maxwell (road race convener), David Barker, Duncan Ball and Miss Louise Trevillion-McConnell; auditor, David Cairns; welfare officer, Michael Pearson.

Club championship winners — Mercer Trophy, Gillian Marshall; hill running, male, Robert Wilson, runner up Martin Browne, female, Janice Smith; cross country, Duncan Ball, runner-up, J Anderson.

Training is still at Beeslack Community High School, Penicuik, on Tuesdays at 7pm meeting at the main car park. Athletes aged 17 years and over are welcome to join. Other club athetes are welcome to join the group for runs during the winter nights.

There is a change for Thursday evening training during the winter months. While the members will meet at the phone box at the foot of Rullion Road, sessions will now start at 6.30pm.
