Bonnyrigg’s Michael pockets top sports honour

Midlothian’s sensational sports stars have been recognised at the annual Midlothian Sports Awards.

Provost Adam Montgomery presented prizes to the winners including senior sports personality Michael Leslie (snooker), junior sports personality Bradley Forbes-Cryans (canoe slalom), junior sports personality (highly commended) Dana Purves (karate).

In addition, the Midlothian Council sport and leisure appreciation award went to Conor Fitzpatrick (basketball and leadership). The senior team of the year was Bonnyrigg Rose while the U-21 junior team award went to the Beeslack High School ski team.

The coach of the year was David Cockburn (Lasswade Rugby Club); the service to local sport honour went to David McConnell; and the Active Schools volunteer of the year was Ellice Cackett.
