A PATHHEAD girl has made a splash for charity – and was inspired to double her effort.
Ellen Stone (8), who attends Tynewater Primary School, took to the pool at Dalkeith Campus during the February holidays to raise cash for the fight against leprosy.
Her £50 target was quickly surpassed when a few lengths turned into a quarter-mile marathon. She said: “I heard about leprosy and the charity LEPRA at my school and wanted to do something to raise money to help people.”
Ellen had planned to do eight lengths of the 25-metre pool, but was able to manage 16 (400 metres/quarter of a mile).
She said: “I am a very happy girl!”
