Penicuik v Broughton

Penicuik 27, Broughton 5

It was a surprisingly warm sunny afternoon which greeted spectators at Penicuik Public Park on Saturday.

With visitors Broughton just above the home side in the East 2 table, this was always going to be an important fixture. Penicuik, playing uphill in the first half, got the game under way.

Some great early attacking play, Penicuik eventually drew a penalty within kicking range and fly half Steven Cunningham duly obliged with the kick to put points on the board.

However, the home side then found themselves down to 14 men when second rower, Adrian Donohue, was yellow carded for a high tackle. Broughton missed the subsequent penalty kick and there were no further scores for the duration of the suspension.
