The delighted young bowlers from the Midlothian U-25 County team are celebrating creating their own piece of history by winning the Scottish League Cup for the first time.

Under the stewardship of team manager Drew Pearson, the team put in an amazing run of victories.

In the league stage they beat East Lothian, East Fife, West lothian, Edinburgh & Leith, and then the Borders. The semi-final saw them defeat Grampian.

Dunbartonshire were the opposition in the final. On a sunny afternoon at Stirling, after six rinks each playing 21 ends, the game came down to Andy Beurle drawing the shot with his last bowl.

Team captain Stuart Wylie accepted the trophy to an enormous roar from the large Midlothian travelling support.

Afterwards manager Drew Pearson said: “To quote Alex Ferguson, I’m proud of all the boys, very proud!”
