Difficult game for Bonnyrigg’s U21s

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic U21’s knew as soon as the draw was made that their game against Campsie Black Watch was going to be incredibly difficult.

At this level Campsie are as good as it gets and in fairness they proved that at the King George V Park with an impressive 3-0 away win.

The early part of the game was dominated by Campsie and Bonnyrigg’s only sight of goal in the opening period was a Greig Callaghan header which went over the bar. Campsie were threatening more often and came close to opening the scoring when Steven Aitken was played through on goal but sharp goalkeeping from Andrew McQueen denied the impressive striker. Aitken wasn’t to be denied for long though. A cross into the Bonnyrigg area was misjudged by the home side’s skipper Callaghan and the finish by Aitken was excellent and gave McQueen no chance.
