Dalkeith High footballer Emma Porteous has been selected for the Hibernian FC Women’s Development Squad.

The 16-year-old makes the move up to the women’s squad after playing for Hibs under-17s.

She took up the sport at the age of ten, and would one day like to represent her club in the Premier League.

Emma, who lives in Dalkeith with her mum Jill, dad Tom and brother Ryan, previously played for Bonnyrigg Rose.

She now trains three times a week with other Hibs ladies at St Augustine’s High School.

While currently preparing for exams, the teenager has ambitions to apply for a football scholarship in America, and would ideally like to go to California or North Carolina.

Emma comes from a family of Hibs fans and her brother also plays for Hibernian youth.
