All of Midlothian’s Junior and Senior football clubs were idle at the weekend as the cold weather led to postponements.

The only East Region game to escape the elements saw a crucial Super League clash between top of the table Kelty Hearts and Bo’ness United which was switched to Bo’ness after the Kelty pitch was frozen off, and in the end United edged it 1-0 to give Kelty their first league defeat of the season. A result sure to please second placed Newtongrange Star.

This Saturday in the Super League, weather permitting, Bonnyrigg Rose welcome Hill of Beath, Newtongrange travel to Camelon and Penicuik Athletic travel to Bo’ness United. While in the Premier League Arniston Rangers visit Tayport and Dalkeith head to Jeanfield. In the Seniors Easthouses Lily head to the capital to face Civil Service Strollers in the league, and Whitehill Welfare entertain old foes Spartans in a Lowland League Cup group match.
