There were mixed fortunes for Midlothian’s football teams at the weekend, with big league and cup fixtures taking place.

Penicuik Athletic moved to the top of the Super League with a 2-0 home win against Tayport. Bonnyrigg Rose smashed their Fife and Lothians Cup opponents Glenrothes
10-0, Arniston Rangers beat Bathgate Thistle 4-2 in the Premier League and Whitehill Welfare saw off Preston Athletic 3-0 in the Lowland League.

It wasn’t all good for our local sides. In the Fife and Lothians Cup, Easthouses lost 5-4 at home to Rosyth and Newtongrange Star lost 1-0 at Thornton Hibs. Dalkeith Thistle lost 4-1 at home against Lochee United.
