Bonnyrigg Rose picked up an impressive victory at home to second top of the East Super League Carnoustie Panmure on Saturday.

Bonnyrigg Rose notched their fourth win adding to two draws in their opening eight games of the new season (two defeats )taking all three Super League points from visiting second top Carnoustie Panmure at New Dundas Park last Saturday hitting their 21st goal of the season in the process.

Bonnyrigg’s third league win started with a 20th minute Ewan Moyes goal as play had been evenly contested up to this point.

An improved Carnoustie proved their worth keeping Bonnyrigg to that solitary first half goal come the half time whistle.

The second half continued with both teams seeking the next goal in vain and it was not until just five minutes from time that the Rose could breath a sigh of relief when they finally grabbed a second goal through Fraser McLaren putting the points beyond the battling visitors.

Next up this Saturday for Bonnyrigg is a visit to Fauldhouse United in the Super League after Fauldhouse previously bottom of the league shocked hosts Tayport last Saturday winning 3-0 at Tayport with Musselburgh now bottom.

After the Fauldhouse trip for the Rose they return to host their Scottish Junior Cup first round tie on September 26 against West League Central District Thorniewood United.

Thorniewood currently top of that league this week and remain unbeaten (wins over Lesmahagow, Rossvale and Dunipace) before this coming weekend Thorniewood go to Johnstone Burgh.

Elsewhere in local junior football Easthouses Lily return to competitive action on Saturday after a day off last weekend, with a home South League clash with West Lothian’s Stoneyburn.

Stoneyburn shared a 3-3 draw last Saturday with Pumpherston in the South League.

Easthouses are keen to get back into action after making an impressive start to their first season in Junior football for around half a century, following their return from the East of Scotland League.

Next Saturday Easthouses (26th ) will be away to this week’s second top Blackburn United, again in the South Division.
