Penicuik High School’s senior team finished a hugely successful and undefeated season by lifting the Lothian Cup at Ferguson Park, Rosewell last Friday night.

Having already won the Scottish Shield last month, Penicuik were looking to complete the cup double by defeating Midlothian neighbours Newbattle High School, the Lothian League champions.

In an even first half, both teams had chances and the goalkeepers were kept busy. Penicuik went close after 30 minutes when a fine effort by Ryan Porteous clipped the bar and went over, but they had to wait until a minute before half-time to make the breakthrough when Kyle Scott crossed for twin brother Stephen to head the opening goal.
