Midweek action continued this week with Dalkeith Thistle in action on Tuesday evening at home to Haddington Athletic in the South League Thistle having won 4-1 at Millfield and chasing a crucial South League double over their East Lothian opponents.
This Saturday it’s West Calder United who visit King’s Park as Thistle there seek to avenge a 2-0 defeat at West Calder in November.
Last Saturday Dalkeith won 5-0 at home to Spartans to see the Jags chasing a win or draw against Haddington to go back to the top of the South League before this weekend. Top as at last weekend were Falkirk but their home game against Harthill was waterlogged off while second top Tranent Juniors failed to beat fellow East Lothian hosts Dunbar United last Saturday in a 1-1 draw at New Countess Park. Haddington gave their visitors Stoneyburn a right trouncing, winning 8-2, so Dalkeith were wary as this gave Haddington 98 goals for the season while Dalkeith were poised on 78.
Penicuik Athletic are still eyeing that promotion place to the East Super League from the Premier League and kept on song with a difficult home 2-1 win over Glenrothes at Penicuik Park last Saturday. Their second goal of the afternoon scored by Jerry Draper was the Cuikie’s 70th goal of the season.
