After an incredible giant-killing run, Arniston’s East of Scotland Cup dream came to an end on Saturday, losing 4-1 to Sauchie in the final.
The Gorebridge side, who finished the season ninth in the 16-team Premier League, had previously knocked out three Super League sides on their way to Saturday’s final at Prestonfield in Linlithgow.
But defeating a fourth Super League side in Sauchie proved to be a step too far for Arniston Rangers.
Speaking after the game Arniston Rangers boss Stephen “Ozzy” Osbourne was proud of his players for making it so far in a cup competition they were never expected to win, and he felt the scoreline was harsh on his side.
He said: “It was definitely never a 4-1 game but we gave away a couple of bad goals .
“My guys have done the club proud this season and deserved to be in the cup final but it wasn’t to be our day today to win it.”
