Penicuik manager Craig Meikle rued missed chances as his side lost their “winnable” Scottish Cup quarter-final on Saturday at Musselburgh.

In the local derby battle between the Athletics the Midlothian side lost 2-0 at a packed Olivebank.

Meikle said: “I’m obviously very disappointed. We know reaching the quarter-finals is a great achievement in itself but I can’t help but feel it’s an opportunity missed to progress
further.

“We might not get a more winnable tie in the quarter-final. That’s no disrespect to Musselburgh, but
there is nothing between the two teams. Unfortunately, on the day we weren’t
able to take any of our chances.

“But the boys have been magnificent this season. To secure our Super League place at this stage of the
season has been brilliant.”
