An under-strength Newtongrange Star side were forced to settle for a share of the points against Carnoustie Panmure on Saturday.

A combination of injuries, suspension and holidays deprived Nitten boss Alan Miller of the services of Chris King, Stevie Noble, Kris Renton, Scott Swaney and Craig Thomson, and the opening stages were very scrappy with few openings at either end before Star took the lead in the 20th minute.

Sean Jamieson played the ball through for Matti King who was clearly in an offside position, but the striker intelligently left the ball for the onside Jordan Cropley who crossed for the unmarked Jack Wilson to slot the ball home from eight yards.

The lead was short-lived though as Carnoustie defender Cook met a corner kick from the right to send a thumping header high past Liam Amos to make it 1-1.
