Arniston Rangers and Bonnyrigg Rose faced a challenging start to the competitive season with four games in 11 days as the Dechmont South League Cup competition got under way earlier this week.
This is followed by a full fixture programme this Saturday then onto next Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
East of Scotland Cup holders Newtongrange Star entertained Super League’s Scottish Junior Cup finalists Musselburgh Athletic on Tuesday evening while last night (Wednesday) Arniston entertained Tranent Juniors in Section D. In the same section, Haddington Athletic were hosts to fellow East Lothianers Dunbar United.
Top League Cup match on August 9 is at New Dundas Park, where Bonnyrigg Rose entertain local rivals Penicuik Athletic (kick-off 7pm).
Dalkeith Barbecue Day at King’s Park on Saturday will coincide with Willie Pearson’s Dalkeith Thistle playing their first League Cup tie of the season at home to Alan Miller’s Newtongrange Star.
Sharing Section D of the new format League Cup with Arniston, Newtongrange and Dalkeith are the East Lothian quartet of Tranent, Musselburgh, Dunbar and Haddington.
This weekend, Haddington are away to Tranent and Arniston Rangers are away to Dunbar United with Musselburgh idle.
On Wednesday, August 10, in Section D, Arniston are at home to Dalkeith, while Dunbar host Tranent and at Olivebank, it’s Musselburgh against Haddington in the battle of the Athletics.
This Saturday in Section C of the League Cup, Penicuik start with a home tie against Pumpherston Juniors, while Bonnyrigg Rose are away to Livingston United.
