Midlothian junior football round-up

Broxburn v Penicuik from Jim Dick
Broxburn v Penicuik from Jim Dick

Midlothian’s Bonnyrigg Rose could be crowned champions of the East Region Super League this coming weekend but it all depends on the result at Hill o’ Beath where the Haws entertain a desperate Musselburgh Athletic in both clubs’ final match of the season. Burgh’s plight could be worsened if bottom Carnoustie Panmure take something from their last two Super League matches starting this Saturday at home to Boness United.

The “Midlothian Dream” of a hat-trick of Junior football league champions and promotion winners was reduced to just two after last weekend’s crunch game in the Premier League race saw Penicuik Athletic lose 2-0 at Broxburn Athletic as the ’Burn grabbed the promotion place to next season’s Super League.

This Saturday, away from league concerns, treble-chasing Bonnyrigg travel away to St. Andrews United for their quarter final tie in the East of Scotland Cup - the winners will be away to Dundonald Bluebell in the semis.
