Star A’s £6,000 improvements works on their training pitch and new pavilion were paid for by local councillor Bryan Pottinger (Lab), from his Environmental Improvements Allowance fund.

He said: “Welfare Park is always extensively used by the Star A and I was glad to be able to support them in their developments, I want these boys to be the best they can be and the committee know I will continue to support them.”

Star A’s treasurer Darren Blacklock added: “Through Councillor Pottinger’s funds we are achieving significant gains in our resources. Councillor Pottinger has supported us in achieving the lease from the council of Abbeylands Pavilion and he has also organised support revenue funding to assist in the running costs of this property.”
